The 5th "wonderful Luohu" Photography Exhibition

As an international brand of cultural event approved by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the "Shenzhen International Photography Week" was established in Luohu in 2014. The biennial event is co-hosted by the Culture, Medium, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, the Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the People's Government of Luohu District and is jointly organized by the Publicity Department of the Luohu District CPC Committee and the Culture, Medium, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Luohu District. Adhering to the concepts of internationalism, artistry, and academicism and based in Luohu, a forefront and window of reform and opening up, the event aims to create a new frontier for the dissemination and exchange of photography art from home and abroad, build a new world of images, drive the development of photography and related industries, and make new explorations and contributions to the thriving development of photography art.

The "Fifth Shenzhen International Photography Week" has received nearly 8,000 pieces of works from over 1,000 authors across more than 40 countries worldwide. From these works, we have carefully selected over 400 pieces of outstanding works from 32 countries for the exhibition. Among them, a set of signed limited edition silver halide prints by Czech photography master Josef Sudek will make its debut to the Chinese public. In addition, precious original works by the renowned Italian photography master Mario Giacomelli will also be exhibited. The main venue for this International Photography Week is located at the Luohu Art Museum, with another five sub-venues set up in Luohu District, Nanshan District, and Longgang District.

Cultures will be enriched and diversified through mutual communication and learning. The "Shenzhen International Photography Week" serves as an excellent platform for promoting the exchange and flourishing of Chinese and foreign photography art communities. It offers a great opportunity for the general public and tourists to appreciate works by world-renowned photography masters up close. It is also an important window for Shenzhen to understand the world and for the world to understand Shenzhen. As a permanent event of international cultural exchange in Luohu District, its successful hosting will further expand the influence of Luohu’s photography art nationwide and worldwide, promote the thriving development of Luohu's cultural affairs, enhance the district's international presence and reputation, and support its effort in building "Three Zones of Three Capabilities" and developing into a pioneer district of socialist modernization with sustainable development.

This "International Photography Week" has received strong support from the Photographic Society of America (PSA), the Global Photographers Union (GPU), the International Photographers Federation (IPF), the Global Chinese Photography Association (GCPA), and relevant photography organizations and institutions of different countries in the world. Finally, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the host and organizers as well as all relevant institutions that have provided great support for this exhibition. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the expert judges and staff who have worked tirelessly in evaluating and selecting exhibits for this exhibition.
